Great Aldi Trip

aldi91009trip 300x225 Great Aldi Trip

Hey Guys,

Well, it was time for another Aldi trip. Today’s trip was pretty mild compared to the last big trip I took (back on Aug 21st). I did pretty well as far as price goes today, but I did notice that they went up quite a but on a few of their products. That made me a little sad :( . Oh well, all in all, still a good trip at $127 for the above. (97 items)

Chicken Leg Quarters – $3.99
2 lbs 80/20 hamburger – $4.09
Assorted Pork Chops – $5.63 (more than enough to feed all 6 of us)
Whole Chicken Fryer – $3.91 (79¢/lb – I am going to shred it up and make BBQ Chicken sandwiches)
Bag of Vidalia Onions – $1.49
Cantaloupe – $1.29 (it’s a big one too :) )
Fresh Button mushrooms – $1.29
Spaghetti Sauce – $1.09 ea
Chicken rice mix (like rice-a-roni) – 67¢ ea
Refried Beans – 69¢ ea
Wide Egg Noodles – 99¢
Bananas – 74¢
Bite Size Frosted Shredded Wheat – $1.89
Honey Crunches with Almonds – $1.99
Cinnamon Crunch Cereal – $1.89
Grape Jelly – $1.19
Creamy Peanut Butter – $1.29
Dozen Large Eggs – 79¢
24 pk Spring Water – $2.99

Obviously this isn’t all 97 items, but it gives you an idea. If you have an Aldi around you, and haven’t tried it out yet, I would highly recommend it. We were strictly Publix and Albertsons shoppers until our Aldi opened in the spring. And I’ll tell you, we have saved a ton! Try it, you’ll like it!

Wow. I am having a hard time understanding how you could leave Publix for Aldi! Publix has the BEST coupon policy ever. You can use competitor coupons and stack them with a Publix coupon and Manufacturer coupons! Not to mention the $5 off $50 coupons or the $10 off $40 coupons! I get lots of name brand items FREE and FREE+ at Publix! Seriously, some items Publix will actually pay me to purchase. I save 85-90% on average at Publix every week. So, the above that you bought would have cost me about $15-$20 or less depending on how many “overage” items I had. Overage means you have a $2 item and use a $3 coupon. There’s a $1 left to put toward the other items in your cart. So I got that Item free PLUS got a $1 extra! Can’t do any of that at Aldi! I strongly urge you to reconsider Publix shopping!

I went to Aldi recently and spent $50 on items. I was soo disappointed, cause I knew I spend half that on all my groceries and household items weekly!

    Carissa,
We shopped Publix for many years. We love Publix, the quality, the people but with Aldi and its savings we aren’t restricted to what coupon we have on hand and which we can stack with to decide what we will eat for the week. Dollar for dollar, on a wide and complete range of food, we feel there is no better value than Aldi. Aldi also saves me some time, which is very valuable to me. I can do a full shopping trip in 30 minutes because I don’t have to compare prices or search for the product I have a coupon for. Now, if you are strictly buying on what coupon(s) you have I can see where you would be right and this probably is the best method. However, if you are going for shear volume of food (we do as we have 4 boys) then Aldi has worked best for us. We did just find this week that they have went up on prices so we may just re-test Publix and see. Thanks for the heads up and great job shopping! Lisa -MoJo.
