How Do Staples Rewards Work?
We have had many readers ask us eactly how do the Staples Rewards work. Here is an overview of the program.
Staples Rewards is free to join and you can earn money too!
Earn:
- 10% back in Staples Rewards on all ink and toner purchases
- 10% back in Staples Rewards on all case and ream paper purchases
- 10% back in Staples Rewards on all Copy and Print purchases
You may recycle any ink or toner cartridge, up to 10 per month and get $3 back in rewards per cartridge. Staples Ink Recycling rewards are issued monthly.
Periodically, Staples will run weekly specials where you can get products for free after Staples Rewards. This means you will puchase the product now, and get the full amount in the form of a Staples Reward Check.
Staples Rewards are mailed every month when the value of the Reward is at least $10. If a monthly balance is less than $10 it will roll over each month until the minimum is met for that quarter. If the $10 minimum is not met, the balance will expire at the end of the quarter.

I have used the Staples rewards often, and there is more i believe shoppers need to know about Staples Rewards. Sometimes you will receive a check mailed to you (if it’s a “free or cheap after rebate” item), but other times (if it says “after Staples Rewards”), you will get it in the form of a store credit. You are notified of the reward being available via e-mail. You print your reward off the e-mail link they send you & are then ready to use it. You can use the reward in up to 2 transactions (no more than that). Also, the rewards do not “roll”. If you use a reward to purchase a reward item, the second item will not generate it’s reward. (i learned this the hard way & this is what their corporate customer service told me)
Thanks for the tips
Something that should be noted (which I learned the hard way), is that you can’t “roll” rewards. If you use rewards towards a purchase that will also earn rewards, then you will only get the amount you paid. This also extends to using coupons. HOWEVER, you can use rewards on items that are “Easy Rebates”, and earn the full amount.
