I have the roku box and stream netflix and hulu. About $16 when I was paying over $100. I love, love, love it. One thing I like the best is that I can watch a series show all the way through the season. I hated waiting each week for it to continue. I just watched revenge and secret circle. I know the new season is on right now but I’ll make it through and when I do get to watch it I can watch the whole season. There are so much to choose from and you can get on the website and find more and send it straight to your queue when u turn on the tv its there waiting. If anyone wants to know more e-mail me. I know when I first was thinking about this I could’nt find good help at all. P.S. Love this site.
Denise – I’m trying to learn about this before switching. Why do you have Roku? Do you not have a computer or video game console to stream Netflix and Hulu? Also, we have about 6 t.v.’s. Do I need a computer, video game console, or Roku on EACH one to get Netflix on each t.v.? Thank you for any help you can provide.
Rocky makes it easier when streaming vs. your game console. With rocky you get about 600 channels free and you can live stream or add private channels by locating codes on Internet. I like the movies on crackle… You need a roku box for each tv. I bought one and now. Will be buying 5 more its so worth it. I was paying $122 per month now $50. See my other comment on here for breakdown.. Problem is live sports. But could do like me and eep basic cable or keep cable box only on 1 tv. Lots of options. Roku is amazing.
I have Netflix on my phone, wii, and on the Roku and pay just the flat rate of $8 so it makes it great to have it so many different ways. Also a great way to save on those high cable bills.
My only gripe — the movies on there are either really old or not very well known. It is best to watch TV shows, which is the vast majority on there.
I’m on the $8 free trial right now. All I get is instant streaming on computers (and maybe my game systems, haven’t tried it out yet), and I love it so far. My daughter especially likes it. Really think I’ll renew!
I love netflixs I have had it for 3 years and love that I can watch almost any t.v. show. and also has cartoons for my son which is very awesome!!! I have it on my Computer, Phone, Wii, and 2 playstations all for 7.99 a month
My Comcast cable and internet bill is ridiculous. An acquaintance was telling me that my husband and I could save on cable costs by running Netflix through our Wii but I’m not really sure how to do this. Courtney you mentioned that you have it on the Wii. Do we just get a wireless router and sign up for the service?

To get cable bill down in price to watch your local shows, I returned all their equipment, router, modem and tv box, asked to do away with hdmi, etc. bill dropped to $15 picked up Hulu plus $7.99 month, Netflix $7.99 and amazon $75 per year. Love love love…. So less than $50 per month ad I added tons & got free shipping. Best decision ever. Note bravo & few other channels do not live stream but well worth the minor inconveniences. At first a little adjustment but wow !!!

To Roku or not to Roku? To Netflix or to Amazon? I researched both extensively then finally took the plunge. LOVE Roku boo Netflix. Netflix is ok for those not familiar with Amazon. Why a couponer would choose Netf over Amazon I don’t know. Amazon has both tv & movies, newer movies and you score the 2 day shipping. Tip check your cable bill for rental equipment & high speed charges. I gave them back their box & get more channels than before because box was limiting my channels, I got my own modem & router, also told them I didn’t want high speed (note it’s all high speed) lady told me it would be 1/2 as fast, No difference… You will save a ton I was paying $120, after sampling everything I now do the following, basic cable $20 & internet $20, Hulu (for tv shows) appx $7, Amazon Prime $75 per year avg appx. $7 per month, So only appx. $54 per month now too many movies to chose from and free two day shipping. Note if you drop basic cable (which you need for live sports) then it does take adjustment at first everytime you turn on tv you are watching exactly what you want not same as channel surfing but it is awesome once you get adjusted.

We also prefer the Amazon Prime. We have the student rate, so it is only $39 per year. We tried Netflix streaming for about a week, and the shows we were getting on disc weren’t available on streaming, and the movies were awful. We watch the majority of our shows on Prime but I also have Hulu Plus for current run shows. We cancelled Netflix completely.
